Terms Page — soundbuttons-click
Acceptance
By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using it; there is no account to close, no subscription to cancel and nothing to unsubscribe from, so leaving is as simple as closing the tab.
These terms apply to every page on the site: the boards, the reference pages, the policy pages and anything served from the same domain. They do not apply to sites the site links to, which have their own terms.
What the service is
SoundButtons is a free, advertising-supported (if advertising is enabled) index of short audio clips with in-browser playback. It provides three things: a table of clips per board, a player that plays one clip at a time, and text that describes what the clips are and how to use them.
It provides nothing else. There is no account system, no upload form, no API, no download service, no storage of your files and no guarantee of uptime. The site is a set of static pages; when the host is up, the site is up.
Permitted use
You may browse the site, play the clips in a browser, link to any page, and quote short passages of the site's text with attribution and a link.
You may use the site in a voice call, a stream or a video, subject to the rights in the underlying audio, which this site does not hold and cannot grant. Whether a particular clip may be used in your project is a question for the clip's owner, not for these terms.
Prohibited use
Five things are not allowed, and they are specific because a general "do not misuse the site" clause helps nobody.
**Re-hosting the collection.** Copying the inventory or the audio files in bulk and publishing them as your own soundboard is not permitted. Neither is scraping the site at a rate that degrades it for other people.
**Removing provenance.** Stripping credits, titles or references to the source in order to present the material as your own is not permitted.
**Using the site to harass.** Playing a clip at a person who has asked you to stop, or using the boards to coordinate a campaign against someone, is not permitted. The boards contain sounds designed to interrupt; interrupting a willing friend is a joke, and the same sound aimed at an unwilling stranger is harassment.
**Circumventing limits.** Attempting to bypass rate limits, inject code, or gain access to systems behind the site is not permitted.
**Unlawful use.** Using the site in a way that breaks the law where you are is not permitted, and that includes copyright law: the site's inability to check every clip is not a permission for you to reuse one.
Intellectual property
The site's own work — the page text, the board descriptions, the tables as compiled, the code and the design — belongs to the site's operator. It may not be republished wholesale.
The audio does not belong to the site. Each clip is a third-party upload, and the site claims no copyright in it. The title of each row is kept as the uploader wrote it, and where a title credits an editor or a source, that credit is the only provenance the file has. If you hold rights in a clip and want it removed, the takedown page explains how.
Trademarks and game titles mentioned on the site belong to their owners. Their appearance here is descriptive: a board named after a game exists because the sounds come from that game, not because the game's owner endorses the board.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is. There is no warranty that a clip will play, that a title is accurate, that a board is complete, that a file is what its name says, or that the site will be available at any particular time.
This is not a formality. The collection is assembled from third-party uploads, some of which are mislabelled, some of which are re-uploads of re-uploads, and some of which may not be the sound a reader expects. The tables are an honest record of what exists, not a guarantee about what it sounds like.
Nor is there a warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. A clip that works in a voice chat may be unusable in an edit, a board that is complete today may lose a row tomorrow to a takedown, and a page that loads on your connection may load slowly on someone else's.
Nothing on the site is professional advice, including the production notes on the riser and whoosh boards and the recording guidance on the upload page.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the site's operator is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the site, including lost profits, lost data, or damage to a device caused by playing audio at high volume.
The volume point deserves its own sentence, because it is the most likely way this site could hurt someone. Several boards contain clips that peak at full scale and are labelled as loud. Playing them into headphones at high volume can damage hearing. The warning is on the page and in the titles; acting against it is a choice the listener makes.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is nothing.
Indemnity
If a claim arises from your use of the site in breach of these terms — for example, because you re-hosted the collection or used a clip in a way that infringed someone's rights — you agree to cover the operator's reasonable costs of responding to it.
This clause exists because a site that cannot afford lawyers should not be left holding the bill for a decision a visitor made.
Availability and changes
The site may change without notice: boards may be added, merged, renamed or removed; rows may be added or taken down; the design may change. There is no commitment to keep any specific page or any specific clip available.
Takedowns take priority over everything else. A row removed after a rights-holder notice will not be restored because a reader liked it.
Termination
These terms apply for as long as you use the site. The operator may block access — by IP address, user agent or hosting-level rule — for behaviour that breaches them, without notice and without a process, because there is no account to suspend and no relationship to unwind.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law applicable at the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not remove protections you have under the mandatory law of the country where you live.
Before any formal step, write to the contact address and describe the problem. Most disputes about a website are misunderstandings about a page, and a reply is cheaper than a filing for everyone involved.
Third-party links and services
The site links to other sites, and some pages describe tools that live elsewhere: virtual audio cables, editors, hosting providers. Those links are references, not endorsements, and the site has no control over what those sites do with your data or whether they stay online.
If you install a tool this site mentions, read its terms. The site does not receive anything for linking to it, does not support it, and cannot help you configure it.
Copyright complaints, in brief
The full process lives on the takedown page, but the summary belongs here because it is part of the agreement: the site does not own the audio it plays, it removes rows when a rights holder sends a valid notice, and it restores a row only after the counter-notice process has run.
Sending a notice to any address other than the one on that page is the most common reason a removal is slow. A notice in the wrong inbox is not ignored, but it is not tracked as a notice either.
Assignment and third-party rights
The operator may transfer the site, and these terms with it, to someone else. If that happens, the obligations described here travel with the domain: a new operator inherits the takedown process, the privacy commitments and the editorial rules, or it does not get to run the site.
No one else has rights under these terms. A visitor, a rights holder or a reader is a beneficiary of the promises made here, but cannot enforce them as a contracting party, except where the law provides otherwise.
Severability and entire agreement
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable provision is read down to the minimum the law allows.
These terms, together with the privacy page and the takedown page, are the whole agreement between you and the site. They replace anything said elsewhere on the site that appears to promise more.

Questions about these terms: [email protected].
Corrections to page content: the address on the about page. Takedown requests: the address on the takedown page. Privacy requests: the address on the privacy page. Each of those pages describes what the recipient needs in order to act, and using the right address is the difference between a reply in days and a reply in weeks.
