Terraria Soundboard: 55 Sounds, Free to Play

What this page covers

Terraria's sound design is small, dry and instantly legible: a boss spawn sting, a zombie moan, an achievement chime, a chat alert, the Empress of Light dying, a Space Gun firing, a Wall of Flesh scream. This board collects those cues, mostly as single hits rather than as music.

The board is useful in two different ways. If you play the game, it is a set of references you can drop into a call and be understood immediately. If you make videos, it is a library of clean, short, chiptune-adjacent cues that cut well because they were designed to be heard over combat.

Every sound on this board

The table below is the inventory. Several rows are named after a boss or an NPC rather than after the noise, which is how the community refers to them; a couple are damage sounds, which are the shortest rows on the board and the ones that most often get used as reaction clips.

Why 8-bit-ish audio cuts so well

Terraria's sounds are mostly synthesised, and synthesised sounds have two properties that matter for editing: they start instantly and they occupy a narrow frequency band. An instant start means the sound lands exactly on the frame you place it; a narrow band means it does not fight the music or the voice for space.

That is why a Terraria hit can be dropped into a mix that already has a track and a narrator and still be audible. It is not louder than the other elements — it is in a gap that the other elements left.

The flip side is that these sounds carry almost no low end. On a phone speaker they are fine; on a laptop with the volume low they can disappear entirely, because the energy is concentrated in the upper mid-range where small speakers are efficient but quiet.

Boss fights, streaming and the spawn sting

The boss spawn sound is the most useful row on the board for anyone streaming the game. It is a warning, it is short, and it is unmistakable to anyone who plays: the chat knows what is about to happen before the health bar appears.

If you are streaming, put the spawn sting on a hotkey and use it as a chapter marker. It gives the recording a clean audio landmark for the moment a fight starts, which makes editing the VOD afterwards much faster than scrubbing the video.

The achievement chime is the second most useful row, and it has a different job: it is a reward, so it belongs after something has been completed rather than before. Using it as an alert sound for follows is tempting and wears out quickly, because the sound is designed to be rare.

The death sounds are the ones that turn into memes. They are short, they are dramatic in a way that does not match the stakes, and they work as a reaction to any failure, in-game or otherwise.

Using these outside the game

A Terraria cue in a video about something else reads as retro rather than as Terraria, which is a useful property: you get the texture of a game soundtrack without the reference landing on people who never played it.

That is the opposite of the Dragon Ball board, where every clip arrives with its show attached. If your video needs a sound that is playful but anonymous, this is the board to raid.

For a call, the same latency rules apply as everywhere on this site: a page cannot push audio into a Discord channel, so use a virtual cable or a browser source in OBS with monitoring on. At these lengths, a half-second delay turns a cue into an interruption.

Where the audio comes from

The sounds belong to the game and its creators. The rows here are third-party uploads, some captured from play, some extracted, some renamed by whoever posted them. This page owns none of it, and a sound being public on a soundboard is not a licence for commercial use.

Questions people ask

Which sound is the boss spawn? The rows with "boss spawn" in the title. It is a short sting with a low hit at the end, and it is the most useful single row on the board for a streamer.

Why are some rows just a single grunt? Because damage sounds are single grunts, and they are the most reusable thing here: a short vocal hit works as a reaction in almost any context.

Do these sound the same as in the game? Close, not identical. Uploads are captures, and captures vary in level and in how much background audio was left in.

How this board is maintained

Titles are kept as uploaded, duplicates stay as separate rows where the audio differs, and the count in the heading is taken after the site's content screen has run so it matches the table a reader can press.
